Parish Radio
We have now retired the old CB radio broadcasting from the parish church. We are still available via the internet. Just follow the links from the parish website at www.glenmoreparish.ie
If anyone would like to sponsor the parish webcam, that would be appreciated. The cost for the web service is €500 per year (Much cheaper than most web hosting companies which charge over €2,000).
Fundraising
The Fundraising Committee are planning two fundraisers that will benefit both the Community Hall and the parish.
Horse Race Night on the Big Screen, Friday, 17th July; Harvest Supper, Friday, 16th October
Your support of these upcoming events is greatly appreciated.
Listerlin Cemetery Extension
The cemetery in Listerlin has served the wide local area for generations. However, the space for new graves is almost exhausted with a reasonable assumption that the cemetery will be closed to new graves in the next 12 months.
A committee formed to examine the potential of extending the existing cemetery has reached agreement with a local landowner to purchase half an acre of adjoining land to extend the cemetery, subject to planning permission approval.
A public meeting will be held to discuss all aspects of this proposal including the cost of purchasing the land and the options in terms of funding the purchase and then developing the site. The meeting will take place next Tues April 7th at 8pm in Scoil Mholainge, Listerlin. All very welcome.
Cemetery Mass
This years cemetery Mass will be help on Friday, 24th July at 7pm.
Sharing Anniversaries
Going forward, booking for weekend Masses will be with the understanding that families may have to share a particular weekend Mass with others. For those who wish to have an individual Mass, we offer weekday Masses at 10am.
Vocations. Thinking of Priesthood?
If you are, then the place to be is the Pallotine Centre Thurles, next Saturday, 11th April, 11am—4.30pm. For more information, contact carol. king@vocations.ie
Cemetery Water
The tap at the hall was broken a few weeks back and left unreported for a number of days resulting in significant water loss. (Water to the hall is metered and charged at a commercial rate). While we discuss options, the tap has been shut off. Water is still available at the church, outside the sacristy. Please conserve water where possible.
Women’s Shed Sculpture
Bothán na mBan, Glenmore Women’s Shed invite you to the unveiling of the wire sculpture ‘Women Fishing’ created by the Women’s Shed and guided by artist Imogen Stafford.
9th April at 11am. Join us outside the Glen Bar. Refreshments in the Glen Bar afterwards. All welcome.
Hall
If you’re using the hall, then there is a charge. This applies to all groups and organisations. With the cost or light, heat and gas, as well as insurance and maintenance, the hall makes little or no money. And with major repairs due there’s nothing to finance these repairs. Don’t forget, the hall is classed as a commercial premises by utility companies.
Thank you to all who do contribute.
Easter Offering
My Sincere thanks to all who have, and will contribute to the Easter collection for the support of the priest. This is the second green envelope in the box of parish contribution envelopes you received back in February.
If you didn’t get envelopes, or have mislaid them, you can contribute by using one of the special envelopes available at the back of the church.
Again, thank you for your continued support. Fr. Liam
A happy and blessed Easter to all our parishioners.
